How to Clean Items in Dig & Clean

Move a dirty Dig & Clean find to the cleaning step, use the spray bottle effectively, confirm the reveal, and decide Collection, museum, or Sell.

Cleaning is the reveal step in Dig & Clean. After digging a dirty object free, move it to the cleaning interaction, equip or use the current spray bottle, and keep the spray on the object until its final identity appears. Do not judge rarity, value, or museum priority from the dirt-covered shape; the official description explicitly places discovery after spraying it clean.

Move from excavation to cleaning

Finish the current target before starting another. Bring the dirty find to the cleaning station or follow the live interaction shown for that object. Current community footage shows items placed on a work surface while the player directs a visible water spray at them. The exact prompt and handling can differ by device, so follow the active Mobile, Tablet, PC, or Console label.

Stand where the spray visibly reaches the object. If cleaning progress pauses, change your angle or distance before buying a new bottle. Make sure Gear shows the intended spray bottle as equipped.

Current videos sometimes show an Instant Clean purchase prompt near a dirty item. Treat that as an optional shortcut, not the normal completion requirement. The manual spray loop is the official foundation.

Read spray bottle fields

Community footage shows spray bottle cards with displayed Power and Range fields. Power is a reasonable field to compare for cleaning output and Range for usable reach, but exact scaling is not officially described. Test each upgrade against similar dirty objects and at a similar distance.

If Power rises but the spray misses more often, practical clean time may not improve. If Range makes positioning easier, it may help on larger objects even when raw power is not the largest jump. Use the Spray Bottle List to record the live catalog without preserving outdated video prices.

Prevent a cleaning backlog

A faster shovel can deliver dirty items more quickly than you can clean them. When two or more finds wait, stop digging and finish the reveal queue. This keeps area, target, and result connected and prevents accidental selling of an unidentified discovery.

For a money session, compare complete cycles rather than only spray time. Travel, excavation, cleaning, and selling all count. For a Collection session, slower full cleaning is still worthwhile when it identifies a missing entry or better specimen.

Verify the result in Collection

Open Collection after the reveal. Current walkthroughs show a grid and selected item record, sometimes including name, weight, condition, times found, and rarity-colored presentation. A completed clean should register the correct identity. If it does not appear immediately, close and reopen the panel once or wait for the interface to catch up before repeating actions.

Keep the fields separate. A high weight does not automatically prove a higher rarity, and condition does not automatically prove a better sale price or museum income. Use the current item’s displayed data and the Rarity Guide rather than a visual guess.

Decide what happens after cleaning

For a first discovery, inspect Collection and consider the museum before Sell. The official description encourages displaying your best finds, while community guides discuss museum progression and earnings. Exact capacity and income rules need a live check, so read the museum prompt before replacing anything.

For routine duplicates, selling can fund tools and access. Check any visible value or confirmation before completing the action. If you are comparing routes, keep sell results attached to the item and location instead of averaging unrelated lucky finds.

Manual cleaning versus Instant Clean

The official Game Pass catalog lists Instant Clean at 349 Robux on August 14, 2026. The Store description is empty. The name and price are official; whether it applies to every object, how it activates, and how it stacks with spray upgrades require live confirmation.

Before buying, time the manual cleaning share of a complete session. If digging, travel, or museum decisions are slower, skipping cleaning may not improve the whole route as much as expected. If a large queue consistently forms, compare the Pass with a normal spray bottle upgrade and the amount of playtime you expect.

Troubleshoot a stuck clean

Confirm the dirty object is in the active cleaning position, the spray is visibly contacting it, and the intended bottle is equipped. Reposition around the item, especially when its shape creates hidden surfaces or the spray appears to pass beside it. Release and restart the interaction once.

If all interface controls lag, rejoin a fresh server. If only one object remains stuck, preserve its Collection context and avoid buying a shortcut as a first troubleshooting step. A changed update can affect an object or station differently from your tool.

Continue the route

After cleaning, use the Item List to identify the record, the Museum Guide to choose a display, or Money Farming to measure how cleaning affects the whole circuit. If cleaning is clearly the bottleneck, compare current tools in Spray Bottles before spending Robux.
